NodeGrid RPC: multi-provider RPC node as a service

NodeGrid RPC will let your app talk to a blockchain without running a node. You get one RPC endpoint (the URL your code sends requests to) per chain, and one API key covers them all. We send each call to a healthy provider and switch to another one automatically if it fails or slows down. You don't configure anything.

How does NodeGrid RPC pick a provider?

We send each call to a healthy provider and switch to another one automatically if it fails or slows down. You don't configure anything.

Why route RPC calls across providers?

One provider is one point of failure and one price list. NodeGrid RPC puts several behind a single endpoint, so you stop choosing and start calling.

Automatic failoverA provider fails or rate-limits you, the call moves on. No code change.

Which chains will NodeGrid RPC support?

Planned for launch: Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin and more, each with automatic failover and its own endpoint page.

Code

How will I call NodeGrid RPC from my app?

Point your client at the NodeGrid RPC URL and add your API key header. Every method the chain supports works as before.

  • Same JSON-RPC methods and responses
  • HTTPS endpoint per chain and network
  • Automatic failover, nothing to set up
import { FetchRequest, JsonRpcProvider } from "ethers";

// One endpoint. NodeGrid RPC picks the provider.
const req = new FetchRequest("https://nodegrid.cryptoapis.io/ethereum/mainnet");
req.setHeader("X-API-Key", process.env.CRYPTOAPIS_KEY);

const nodegrid = new JsonRpcProvider(req);
const block = await nodegrid.getBlockNumber();

Looking for an Alchemy, QuickNode or Chainstack alternative?

You won't have to switch everything. Add NodeGrid RPC as the second endpoint in your client. If your main provider fails or rate-limits you, calls go to NodeGrid RPC. It is standard JSON-RPC, so moving fully means changing one URL.

ethers.js · fallbackKeep your provider
import { FallbackProvider, JsonRpcProvider } from "ethers";

const provider = new FallbackProvider([
  // your current provider stays first
  { provider: new JsonRpcProvider(MAIN_RPC_URL), priority: 1 },
  // NodeGrid RPC takes over when it fails
  { provider: nodegrid, priority: 2 },
]);
Pricing

How much will NodeGrid RPC cost?

NodeGrid RPC is coming soon, and we will announce its pricing before it launches. Until then, JSON-RPC calls are part of the Blockchain API and use its credits. Need RPC at volume today? Talk to us.

FAQ

NodeGrid RPC questions

What is NodeGrid RPC?

NodeGrid RPC is a multi-provider RPC service from Crypto APIs, coming soon. You will call one JSON-RPC endpoint per chain, all with one API key. NodeGrid RPC routes each call to a healthy node provider and switches automatically if it fails.

Is NodeGrid RPC a managed RPC service?

Yes. NodeGrid RPC is how Crypto APIs will offer managed RPC node access, with automatic failover across providers. It takes over from our earlier shared-node product.

What happens when a provider goes down?

The call is retried on the next healthy provider that serves the same chain and method. Your code does not change and you keep one endpoint.

Which chains will NodeGrid RPC support?

Planned for launch: Solana, Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polygon, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Hyperliquid, Arbitrum, Tron, Monad, Sui and Optimism, then XRP Ledger, Sonic, Avalanche, Linea, TON and more. The final list is confirmed at launch.

When can I use NodeGrid RPC?

NodeGrid RPC is coming soon. Until then, JSON-RPC access is part of the Blockchain API, on the same API key and credits.

How will NodeGrid RPC be billed?

We will announce how NodeGrid RPC is billed before it launches. Until then, JSON-RPC calls are part of the Blockchain API and use its credits.

NodeGrid RPC is coming soon

One endpoint per chain, one API key, automatic failover. Until then, JSON-RPC access is part of the Blockchain API.
