# Tezos API

The Crypto APIs Tezos API, part of the Blockchain API, prepares Tezos transfers (tez, FA1.2 and FA2 tokens), estimates their fees and broadcasts them, without running a node. One API key covers mainnet and shadownet, and webhooks tell your server when a transfer confirms.

## Key facts

| | |
| --- | --- |
| Networks | Mainnet, Shadownet |
| Model | Account (Tezos) |
| Endpoints | 16 |
| Confirmations webhook | Yes, per address |
| Custody | Non-custodial, you sign |
| Free trial | 14 days, no card |

## How do I get Tezos fee recommendations?

Send one GET request with your API key; the same request works on shadownet when you replace mainnet with shadownet in the path.

```
curl https://rest.cryptoapis.io/blockchain-fees/tezos/mainnet/mempool \
  -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"
```

## Which Tezos endpoints are available?

The main calls. Every path takes the network: mainnet or shadownet.

## Tezos API questions

**Is there a free Tezos API?** You can try it free for 14 days. The Blockchain API free trial covers Tezos and every feature, with no card. It ends after 14 days or when its credits run out; after that, calls need a subscription, listed on the pricing page.

**How do I get the balance of a Tezos address?** The API does not read Tezos balances today. For Tezos it prepares and broadcasts transfers (tez, FA1.2 and FA2 tokens), estimates their fees and sends webhooks when they confirm.

**How do I broadcast a Tezos transaction?** Sign the transaction on your own server, then send the signed raw transaction to the broadcast endpoint, authenticated with your API key, and Crypto APIs pushes it to the Tezos network and returns the transaction ID. We can prepare the unsigned transaction for you first.

**Do you support Tezos shadownet?** Yes. Every Tezos endpoint works on mainnet and shadownet. Change mainnet to shadownet in the path; the same API key works on both.

**What makes Tezos different to work with?** It is an account-model chain with FA1.2 and FA2 token standards. A first transfer from an unrevealed account needs its public key revealing, which is why fee estimation asks for it — a step that has no equivalent on an EVM chain.

**How do I know when a Tezos transaction is confirmed?** Create a webhook subscription for the address. Crypto APIs calls your URL when a transaction to or from it confirms on Tezos.

## The self-amending blockchain

Tezos is an community-governed, open-source blockchain network capable of running complex smart contracts for asset settlement and decentralized applications (dApps).

Tezos is a self-amending crypto ledger which means it can upgrade itself based on user voting without having to split (“fork”) the network into two different blockchains. Tez (XTZ) is the native token of the Tezos blockchain.

| About Tezos | |
