Released in 2015 by Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum is the biggest blockchain marvel since Bitcoin. It has become the most used blockchain network in the world and was the launchpad for NFTs.

The Ethereum blockchain uses Ether as its currency, which takes second place only to Bitcoin. Ethereum introduced smart contacts expanding the concepts of Bitcoin and taking the platform beyond simple payment distributions.
